This stream might be one of the most underrated pieces of water in the state.  Gore Creek flows through the Vail Valley, and is almost all public.  While you wouldn't think that a river that flows between million dollar homes and right through town is a great fishery, this one is.  Classified as one of Colorado's Gold Medal Waters, Gore Creek is an excellent habitat for trout.  With its crystal clear water, anglers can spot fish, and need to be quite stealth when approaching.  The dry fly fishing is quite good and is always a good option during the warmer months.

There are two main sections to this river.  The section that is in East Vail, and the section that is in West Vail.  The East Vail section is a bit more open with more flats and riffles, while the West Vail section is more pocket water and pools..  The section in West Vail is another one of my favorites.  While not a big river, Gore Creek holds big fish.  Just looking at it you would never guess that there are 22-24" fish that live in this small stream.  While a favorite of locals, this river is rarely crowded
